NEW AND IMPROVED Vortex Tower Decanter Tritan (P/N 500625). Redesigned with unbreakable an Tritan polymer plastic and featuring a stainless steel chilling ball, the Vortex decanter allows wine to cascade through the aerating fountain as it pours out of the bottle, releasing its bouquet on its way into the decanter and removable chilling ball.

Serve by lifting the stainless steel valve at the bottom of the decanter.

  • Bowl is made of premium BPA-free Tritan polymer plastic
  • Decanter and aerating filter are shatterproof
  • Ideal for indoor and outdoor use
  • Filter aerates wine as it pours into the decanter
  • Stainless steel ball can be frozen and used to chill the wine
  • Stainless steel trim
  • Slate base

Add a glass bowl (sold separately) for indoor use. Made from borosilicate glass and easily interchangeable with the Tritan bowl, glass bowls are incompatible and cannot be used with with the stainless steel chilling ball.

FAQs

Is the Vortex Tower Decanter made of glass, and will it break if it tips over?

A: The bowl and aerating filter are made from BPA-free Tritan polymer plastic — the same shatterproof material used in high-end drinkware — so it won’t shatter if knocked over. That makes it genuinely usable outdoors, on a patio or at a poolside gathering, without the anxiety of a glass decanter. A borosilicate glass bowl is available separately for indoor-only use, though it cannot be used with the included stainless steel chilling ball.

How does the aerating and chilling actually work?

A: When you pour wine from the bottle into the top of the tower, it cascades through the aerating filter, exposing the wine to air as it flows down — releasing its aroma before it even reaches the bowl. The included stainless steel chilling ball sits inside the bowl and can be frozen beforehand to keep the wine cool without diluting it. To serve, you simply lift the stainless steel valve at the bottom of the decanter and pour directly into a glass below.

How much wine does it hold, and is that enough for a dinner party?

A: The decanter holds 30 ounces, which is exactly one standard 750ml bottle of wine. For a dinner party, that means you’d pour and serve one bottle at a time — the tower format makes the pour itself part of the table experience, so refilling as needed adds to the occasion rather than detracting from it.

How tall is it, and will it look right on a table or bar cart?

A: The full assembly stands 19 inches tall on its slate base, with a 5" x 5" footprint. It’s genuinely dramatic at that height — the stainless steel arm, slate base and clear Tritan bowl give it a sculptural presence that reads as considered rather than fussy. It photographs well and holds its own on a styled table without competing with the glassware.

What’s included with the decanter, and does it come ready to gift?

A: The set includes the Tritan polymer decanter bowl, the aerating filter, the stainless steel chilling ball, stainless steel trim, and the slate base — everything needed to aerate, chill and serve. Wine glasses are not included. The glass bowl for indoor use is sold separately and is easily interchangeable with the Tritan bowl, though note it cannot be paired with the chilling ball.

Can this be used outside, and is it easy to clean?

A: Yes — the shatterproof Tritan bowl and filter are specifically noted as suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, which sets this apart from glass decanters that require careful handling. The product data does not specify dishwasher compatibility, so hand washing the components is the safest approach to preserve the stainless steel finish and slate base.

It is a well made, very functional decanter. It is good to put on a little show when decanting your wine. Convenient to fill glass.

Fun and Functional!

Not only is this so fun and decorative to have on the dining table but it works! We compared wine straight from the bottle vs thru the decanter and was remarkable difference!

Creative design wine decanter!

We used the Tower Decanter at a restaurant and were so impressed that we came home and bought one! It holds a full bottle and looks great on the table. The creative design makes it fun and easy to use. Very cool and the perfect gift for any wine lovers.

Awesome but mine drips wine......

gregg scott| 4/19/2023 12:00:00 pm

Got one as gift from family.. .love it but it drips.

there were no instructions (checked twice) to see if there were any tips on how to take apart the valve and clean it or fix it so it won't drip.

Each drop is precious, so I need some help or I will have to return to IWA.

(maybe mine is defective? maybe returned before since there were no
instructions in the box?)

Gregg, please contact us at info@iwawine.com or by calling 800.527.4072 and we'll be glad to assist you - the decanter shouldn't drip - either we'll get the manufacturer to solve the issue, or we'll figure out a solution. FYI We would never send out a returned unit without first testing it and confirming that it's "as new" and working properly.
