Le Cache Vault 3100 Classic #881
Details
For a collection that has grown past what a standard cooler can handle, the Vault 3100 offers the kind of controlled environment that long-term aging actually requires. It manages both temperature and humidity simultaneously, which puts it in a different category from wine refrigerators that treat humidity as an afterthought. Rated for ambient environments between 50°F and 95°F, it holds up in a garage or unconditioned basement just as reliably as a finished room, and the cherry veneer with Classic hand-stained finish means it doesn’t look like utility equipment once the collection settles in.
Best For
- Aging a 200–350 bottle collection in a garage or unfinished basement where ambient temperatures fluctuate significantly by season
- Placing a large-format cabinet flush against a finished wall without leaving ventilation clearance behind the unit, thanks to SB/0™ top-vent exhaust technology
- Storing a mixed cellar of standard Bordeaux, oversized Burgundy and Champagne bottles together without adapting the racking for each format
- Moving a growing collection out of a kitchen cooler into a purpose-built storage environment with active humidity control and a five-year cooling system warranty
Features
- Foil-backed polyisocyanurate insulation: A higher-performing insulation than standard foam, it delivers better thermal resistance per inch and allows the cabinet to hold stable conditions in unconditioned spaces with ambient temperatures between 50°F and 95°F — suitable for garages and unfinished basements without HVAC.
- CellarPro 1800-series cooling unit (made in USA): Three unit options (QTL-ECX, QT-ECX, XT-ECX) drawing 2.4–3.0 running amps. The unit mounts internally at the top and exhausts through a top vent, so no rear clearance is required. Five-year warranty on the cooling system specifically.
- SB/0™ Technology: The cabinet is engineered to sit flush against the wall with zero rear clearance needed — a meaningful difference from units that require 6–12 inches of breathing room behind them.
- Adjustable humidity control with dedicated modes: Beyond passive humidity retention, the system actively manages humidity levels. Energy-Saver and Quick-Chill modes give you control over operating behavior depending on load and ambient conditions.
- Audible and visual alarms: The unit alerts if temperature drifts outside acceptable range — relevant if the cabinet is in a garage or secondary space you don't check regularly.
- All-wood Interlock racking with 3.8-inch slots: 320 racked slots sized to accommodate Burgundy and many Champagne bottles in double-deep configuration, plus bulk space for approximately 48 bottles — 368 total capacity.
- High-performance air filtration system: Filters circulating air inside the cabinet, reducing mold spores and airborne contaminants that can affect corks over long-term storage.
- Locking stainless bar pulls; low-heat interior LED lighting; optional bottle probe for precise internal temperature monitoring at bottle level
- 2-year warranty on the full cabinet; optional extended warranty available

What These Specs Mean
- Startup Amps: The compressor draws significantly more current at startup than during normal operation — your dedicated circuit and breaker must be sized to handle the startup figure, not just the running amps, to avoid tripped breakers.
- Cooling Unit Variants (QTL / QT / XT): Each model represents a different cooling capacity tier; the correct choice depends on your room’s ambient temperature range and thermal load — use the Thermal Load Calculations guide linked below to match the unit to your installation environment.

Please note:
(1) We count the top of the racks as 1 row when counting rows in our racks.
(2) Every slot in the racks is 3 3/4" and sized to fit oversized Burgundy and most Champagne-size bottles.
(3) Bulk storage is located atop the racks (except for the first row atop the racks). Bulk storage capacity is based on Bordeaux-size bottles.
(4) Total capacity is the sum of racked plus bulk capacity, with double-deep storage in all cases except the Contemporary Credenza (which is single-deep). Usable capacity may be lower by 2-3 bottles when the first few cells under the cooling unit are left empty for proper air circulation.
FAQs
Can the Vault 3100 be placed in a garage or unconditioned basement?
A: Yes — the Vault 3100 is specifically engineered for unconditioned environments. Its foil-backed polyisocyanurate insulation and paneled, insulated doors allow the cabinet to operate in ambient temperatures ranging from 50°F to 95°F, making it well-suited for garages, unfinished basements or secondary homes where climate control is inconsistent. Most standard wine coolers and refrigerators are not rated for those conditions.
What is the actual bottle capacity, and will it fit Burgundy or Champagne bottles?
A: The Vault 3100 holds 368 bottles total — 320 in racked slots and approximately 48 in bulk stacked storage. The all-wood Interlock racking uses 3.8-inch slots configured for double-deep storage, which accommodates most bottle sizes including Burgundy and many Champagne bottles. Collectors building a mixed cellar across Bordeaux, Burgundy and Rhône formats should find the universal racking handles their range without modification.
Is the Vault 3100 freestanding or can it be placed flush against a wall?
A: The Vault 3100 is a freestanding cabinet, but Le Cache’s proprietary SB/0™ technology routes the exhaust through a top-vent, allowing the unit to sit flush against a wall with no rear clearance required. This is a meaningful advantage over cooling systems that exhaust from the back and require standoff space. You do need overhead clearance for the top exhaust to function properly.
What are the electrical requirements, and does it need a dedicated circuit?
A: The cabinet runs on 115V AC / 60 Hz standard household current. Running amperage is low — the CellarPro 1800QTL-ECX draws just 2.4 amps at steady state — but startup (compressor inrush) can reach 14.2 amps on that model, and up to 20.1 amps on the 1800QT-ECX and 1800XT-ECX variants. A dedicated 20-amp circuit is strongly recommended to handle startup loads cleanly, especially in a garage or basement panel.
How does the Vault 3100 manage humidity, and why does that matter for long-term aging?
A: Unlike wine coolers and household refrigerators, which only regulate temperature and actively dry the air, the Vault 3100 includes adjustable humidity control through its CellarPro cooling unit. Maintaining proper humidity prevents corks from drying out and oxidizing wine over time — which is why this cabinet is designed for long-term aging rather than short-term storage. The CellarPro unit also features audible and visual alarms that alert you if conditions drift outside acceptable ranges.
What does the warranty cover, and is extended coverage available?
A: The Vault 3100 carries a 2-year warranty on the entire cabinet and a separate 5-year warranty on the CellarPro cooling unit. An optional extended warranty is also available for buyers who want longer coverage. The cooling unit warranty is notably longer than most competitors’ all-in-one coverage, which reflects Le Cache’s use of a purpose-built, USA-made CellarPro refrigeration system rather than an off-the-shelf compressor.

Very pleased

I am very pleased with my wine cabinet. I have it set up in the garage. During the summer it reached 90 degrees and the wine cabinet worked just fine. Thanks for making a rugged unit for just this situation. Take care..

The cabinet arrived in good condition. Getting it into the house was a bit of an epic ... but we managed. I was able to set it up with no problem, let it settle in over a weekend, then loaded in some bottles. So far, everything is working great.
It is great!
