Le Cache Euro 5200 Classic #752
When a collection has grown past the point where a cooler or closet conversion can keep pace, the Euro 5200 is the cabinet built for that next chapter. At 622-bottle capacity — 544 racked slots at 3.8 inches each plus roughly 78 bottles in bulk storage — it handles a serious accumulation of Bordeaux, Burgundy, Napa and Rhône without compromise. Designed by Pinnacle Award-winning designer Martin de Blois, the European Country aesthetic translates into a piece that holds its own in a finished dining room or library: carved crown and base moldings, paneled cherry wood veneer, hardwood French doors with double-pane tinted glass and hand-turned pewter pulls that look like they belong in the room rather than just in it.
The CellarPro cooling unit — made in the USA and now in its quietest iteration — manages both temperature and humidity with a digital thermostat and adjustable humidity control, which matters for long-term aging in ways that a basic wine cooler simply cannot deliver. Sealed seams, foil-backed polyisocyanurate insulation and UV-filtering glass protect the collection from thermal swing and light damage. SB/0™ technology allows the cabinet to sit flush against the wall with top-vent exhaust, which makes placement in a living space practical rather than an afterthought. The all-wood interlock racks accommodate oversized bottles, and an optional bottle probe adds another layer of monitoring precision for those keeping a close eye on their cellar.
Best For
- Transitioning a 300–500 bottle collection out of a closet conversion or kitchen cooler into a climate-controlled, purpose-built environment
- Furnishing a dining room, study or second home where the cabinet needs to read as furniture first and storage second
- Aging tannic reds over five to fifteen years where consistent humidity control is as important as temperature
- Collectors with large-format or oversized bottles that standard racking cannot accommodate
- Three CellarPro cooling unit options: The cabinet ships with your choice of the 1800QTL-ECX (2.4A running / 14.2A startup), 1800QT-ECX (2.9A / 20.1A) or 1800XT-ECX (3.0A / 20.1A) — all 115V AC / 60 Hz. Select based on your room’s thermal load; a Cooling Unit Selection Guide is available to size it correctly before purchase.
- SB/0™ zero-clearance technology: The cooling system exhausts through the top vent rather than the rear, so the cabinet can sit flush against a wall without any rear air gap. This matters in finished rooms where built-in appearance is a priority.
- Adjustable humidity control: Active humidity management is built into the CellarPro unit, not a passive tray. This keeps corks from drying out over multi-year aging periods — a feature absent from standard wine coolers and refrigerators.
- 622-bottle double-deep racking: 544 racked slots at 3.8-inch spacing accommodate standard and many oversized bottle formats; the remaining ~78 bottles sit in a dedicated bulk storage zone. All-wood interlock racks are included.
- Foil-backed polyisocyanurate insulation: A higher R-value closed-cell foam that outperforms fiberglass or expanded polystyrene at equivalent thickness, reducing the thermal load on the cooling unit and improving long-term energy efficiency.
- Energy-Saver and Quick-Chill modes: Energy-Saver reduces compressor cycling during stable ambient conditions; Quick-Chill accelerates cool-down after restocking. Both are selectable from the digital display without any separate controller.
- Audible and visual alarms alert to temperature excursions; an optional bottle probe adds a second internal reference point for collectors who want to verify temperature at the bottle rather than at the air sensor.
- Hand-turned pewter pulls with integrated security locks; low-heat interior LED lighting; 5-year warranty on the cooling unit and 2-year warranty on the cabinet, with an optional extended warranty available.
Pairs Well With
- The optional bottle probe — measures actual bottle temperature rather than cabinet air temperature, which can differ by several degrees in a fully loaded cabinet and matters when aging bottles for a decade or more.

What These Specs Mean
- Startup Amps: The compressor draws significantly more current at startup than during normal operation; your dedicated circuit must be rated to handle up to 20.1 amps at startup to avoid tripped breakers.
- Cooling Unit Selection (QTL-ECX, QT-ECX, XT-ECX): These are three available CellarPro compressor models with different thermal capacities; the right choice depends on the ambient temperature of the room where the cabinet will be placed — use the Thermal Load Calculations link above to determine which unit fits your installation.

PLACEMENT REQUIREMENTS
POWER REQUIREMENT:
The power cord extends 6 1/2 feet from the rear of the cabinet. If an extension cord is used, it should be 14-gauge wire or thicker, grounded, and as short as possible.
The cooling unit plugs into a standard grounded wall outlet. We recommend adding a surge protector, rated at 15 amps or more (for example, click here), to protect the cooling unit from power surges.
The outlet must be on a dedicated circuit. The components of the cooling unit draw 3 amps, and the electric outlet on the side of the cooling unit also is rated for 3 amps. The cooling unit should not, under any circumstances, share a circuit with another motor or compressor-based appliance, like a wine cooler, fridge, air conditioner, or garage opener.
FLOOR SURFACE
Because of the significant weight of your wine cabinet, it is important that it be placed on a hard surface; otherwise, the cabinet may become skewed if the doors settle unevenly over time. If you will be placing your cabinet on thick carpeting, consider placing a carpet board underneath the wine cabinet. You can purchase a carpet board from Le Cache, or you can have your local hardware store cut a 3/4 inch plywood board to the following dimensions: 45w x 25d (inches).
DOOR SWING CLEARANCE
The doors of our wine cabinets swing wide by approximately 1 inch when open at 90 degrees. The additional width should be accounted for when purchasing cabinets that do not have moldings because the stated widths of our wine cabinets do not account for the door swing. Please note that the additional width is required in front of the cabinet.
WEIGHT LOAD FACTOR
After loading your wine cabinet with wine bottles, it will be extremely heavy. When selecting a location for your cabinet, make sure that the floor underneath is strong enough to support the weight of the cabinet.
TEMPERATURE REQUIREMENTS
CellarPro cooling units are designed to handle temperatures ranging from 50 to 95F.
VENTILATION REQUIREMENTS
The cooling unit generates hot air that must be exhausted in such a way that it won't be recirculated by the cooling unit. If the hot air cannot be dissipated or channeled properly, and the cooling unit is forced to recycle its own hot air, the cooling unit will be unable to maintain cold temperatures inside the wine cabinet and/or will overheat and/or will run all the time. Proper ventilation can be achieved in one of three ways:
- 1. UPRIGHT CABINETS WITH TOP-VENT CONFIGURATIONS
Our upright wine cabinets have been engineered with top-vent cooling units and SB/0 Technology so that they can be placed right up against the wall. In this configuration, the hot air generated by the cooling unit is ventilated through the top of the wine cabinet, and the return air comes from above the wine cabinet, so there must be clearance above and to the sides of the cabinets for the hot air to dissipate, as follows: - Contemporary wine cabinets, Carolina wine cabinets, Loft wine cabinets, Vault wine cabinets and a Semi-Custom wine cabinets require 18 inches of clearance above the wine cabinet.
- European Country wine cabinets and Mission wine cabinets require 12 inches of clearance above the wine cabinet.
- The sides always need to be open - in other words, placement in a corner, enclosed space, alcove, or closet will not work without our front-vent hood (see Configuration 3 below).
- 2. UPRIGHT CABINETS WITH Rear-Vent Configurations
Our upright wine cabinets can be configured so that the return air comes from behind the wine cabinet. This configuration is useful in situations where sufficient clearance around the wine cabinet doesn't exist. In this configuration: - If the rear of the wine cabinet is not accessible, a minimum clearance of 7 1/2 inches above the wine cabinet is required for removal and replacement of the cooling unit air filter.
- If the rear of the wine cabinet is accessible, a minimum clearance of 3 inches above the wine cabinet is required for proper airflow, and we recommend using our air deflector to direct the hot air exhaust to the left of the wine cabinet.
- In all cases, the wine cabinet must be placed 3-4 inches away from the rear wall.
- The sides always need to be open - in other words, placement in a corner, enclosed space, alcove, or closet will not work without our front-vent hood (see Configuration 3 below).
- 3. UPRIGHT CABINETS with Front-Vent Hoods
If you want to place the wine cabinet flush against the wall but you don't have the required clearance (as outlined in Configuration 1 above), or you want to place the wine cabinet in an enclosed space, closet, or alcove, our front-vent hood (placed on top of the wine cabinet) can be used with 7 1/2 inches of clearance above the wine cabinet for removal of the hood and the air filter. Please note: - Contemporary wine cabinets, Loft wine cabinets and Vault wine cabinets can use our front vent hood with OR without the decorative grill.
- European Country wine cabinets, Mission wine cabinets and Carolina wine cabinets can use our front vent hood without the decorative grill (the decorative grill will not fit with crown moldings).
4. CREDENZA WINE CABINETS
Credenza wine cabinets don't require any clearance above the wine cabinet; however, all credenzas require 3-4 inches of space behind the wine cabinet because all the ventilation (intake and exhaust) occurs behind the cabinet.

Please note:
(1) We count the top of the racks as 1 row when counting rows in our racks.
(2) Every slot in the racks is 3 3/4" and sized to fit oversized Burgundy and most Champagne-size bottles.
(3) Bulk storage is located atop the racks (except for the first row atop the racks). Bulk storage capacity is based on Bordeaux-size bottles.
(4) Total capacity is the sum of racked plus bulk capacity, with double-deep storage in all cases except the Contemporary Credenza (which is single-deep). Usable capacity may be lower by 2-3 bottles when the first few cells under the cooling unit are left empty for proper air circulation.
Can the Euro 5200 be placed flush against a wall, or does it need clearance behind it?
A: The Euro 5200 uses Le Cache’s SB/0™ Technology, which allows the cabinet to sit flush directly against a wall with no rear clearance required. Heat exhaust is routed through a top-vent system, so the only clearance needed is above the unit. This makes it well-suited for dining rooms, finished basements or any built-in nook where rear access is not possible.
What is the real-world bottle capacity, and will it fit oversized bottles like Burgundy or magnum format?
A: Total capacity is 622 bottles — 544 bottles in racked slots (3.8-inch slots on all-wood interlock racks) and approximately 78 bottles in bulk stacking space. The universal racking system is designed to accommodate oversized bottles, including wider Burgundy and Pinot Noir formats, without modification. Double-deep storage maximizes density while keeping the cabinet footprint at 79 inches wide by 31 inches deep by 91 inches tall.
What are the electrical requirements, and will a standard household outlet handle this cabinet?
A: The Euro 5200 runs on 115V AC / 60 Hz, which is standard household current. Running amperage is low — 2.4 to 3.0 amps depending on the CellarPro cooling unit chosen (1800QTL-ECX, 1800QT-ECX or 1800XT-ECX). Startup amperage is higher, ranging from 14.2 to 20.1 amps, so a dedicated 20-amp circuit is worth confirming before installation, particularly if other appliances share the line.
How loud is the cooling system, and is this cabinet appropriate for a living space or dining room?
A: Le Cache equips the Euro 5200 with CellarPro cooling units, which are marketed as among the most advanced and quietest available. The cabinet features foil-backed polyisocyanurate insulation and sealed seams that help contain both temperature and sound. CellarPro publishes dedicated sound performance data for the 1800-series units — the specific decibel output varies by which cooling unit (QTL, QT or XT) is selected, with the QTL variant being the quietest of the three.
Does this cabinet actively manage humidity, or does it just control temperature?
A: The Euro 5200 provides adjustable humidity control through the CellarPro cooling unit — this is a key distinction from standard wine coolers and refrigerators, which regulate temperature only and are not designed for long-term aging. Active humidity management keeps corks from drying out over extended storage periods. The cabinet also includes an electronic thermostat with digital display, audible and visual alarms, and an optional bottle probe for precise internal monitoring.
What warranty comes with the Euro 5200, and what does each coverage period include?
A: The Euro 5200 carries a 2-year warranty on the entire cabinet and a 5-year warranty on the CellarPro cooling unit. An optional extended warranty is also available for additional coverage beyond those terms. The cooling unit is manufactured in the USA by CellarPro, and the longer warranty period on that component reflects its role as the most mechanically complex part of the system.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this unit
The team was patient with my numerous calls/emails asking questions about the unit before I purchased it. Never once did I feel pressured into making a purchase before I was ready.
After ordering the delivery process was easy and very low stress. I received extremely clear and easy to follow instructions preparing me for delivery day via email and the team that delivered the unit was courteous and professional. They took the time make sure they handled and set up the unit with the utmost care. Not even a single fingerprint was on the unit when they left.
As for the unit itself, it has been everything I expected given the cost and effort it took to get the unit delivered. I have multiple temperature and humidity sensors placed throughout the unit and it is EXTREMELY stable. Less than 2 degree variance between top and bottom and less than 0.5 degree variance throughout the day.
Overall, 5 stars and would recommend to anyone looking for a showpiece to house their wine collection!
