Details

When a collection reaches 100 bottles and beyond, the question is no longer whether to get a dedicated unit but which one actually fits the space and the wines. The Loft 1200 holds up to 166 Bordeaux bottles across two independently controlled temperature zones, with the upper set between 41–54°F for whites and sparkling and the lower between 54–66°F for reds. Front venting means it installs flush into cabinetry or stands alone without modification, which matters when you’re finishing a basement or fitting a unit into an existing cabinet run.

The frameless tinted double-pane glass door lies flat across the face of the cabinet, with no visible frame interrupting the sightline. Inside, 14 rolling metal plate shelves accommodate both standard Bordeaux and wider Burgundy-format bottles, though capacity drops when Burgundy bottles are mixed in. Independent blue LED controls for each zone are mounted inside the door, and interior LED lighting lets you read labels without opening. A charcoal air filter, security lock and an R600a compressor round out a unit that is built for long-term, unattended operation.

Best For

  • Finishing a basement or remodeling a dining room where the refrigerator needs to sit flush in a cabinet run
  • Storing whites and reds simultaneously at their respective serving temperatures without running a second unit
  • Collections that mix Burgundy and Bordeaux format bottles and need shelf flexibility to accommodate both
  • A cellar in the 100–166 bottle range that has outgrown an undercounter cooler and needs true dual-zone control

Configuration

Placement requirements: 60-85F ambient temperature. If the ambient temperature is outside this range, the performance of the unit will be affected.

Size: 23 3/4w x 27d x 69 3/4h (in)

Shelving: 14 pull-out shelves (13 rolling)

Quiet Mode The wine cooler can be put into "quiet mode", which reduces the fan speed by 20-25% and reduces the amount of noise produced by the fans, by pressing and holding the light button (while the display panel is locked from not being touched for 15 seconds) for about 3-5 seconds. The C/F indicator will flash when the unit is in "quiet mode."

Features

  • Separate temperature ranges per zone: The upper zone runs 41–54°F for whites and sparkling; the lower zone runs 54–66°F for reds. The upper zone must stay at least 4°F colder than the lower zone — a hard constraint worth knowing before you plan how you’ll split the cabinet.
  • 14 pull-out shelves (13 rolling metal plate): Low-profile plate shelves accommodate Bordeaux bottles at rated capacity; switching to Burgundy-format bottles will reduce total count. One fixed presentation shelf position is also available.
  • Front-vented cabinet: The compressor exhausts through the front grille, so the unit can be recessed flush into cabinetry without clearance gaps on the sides or rear. Works equally as a freestanding column.
  • Reversible door hinge — swing direction can be changed to fit your installation without calling a technician.
  • Dedicated circuit required: 115V / 60Hz on a 15-amp dedicated circuit. Factor this into any built-in or basement installation plan before ordering.
  • R600a compressor: A lower global-warming-potential refrigerant that also runs more efficiently than older R134a systems. Relevant if the unit will operate continuously in a conditioned basement or living space.
  • Warranty split: 1 year on parts and labor, 5 years on the compressor specifically — the component most likely to need attention after the first year.
  • Security lock with keys included; blue LED interior lighting; Fahrenheit/Celsius display toggle; charcoal air filter; UL / ETL compliant

Pairs Well With

  • The optional rolling presentation shelf (sold separately) — it converts one shelf position into a label-forward display row, shown in the product images. The manual covers installation.

Placement

PLACEMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • This appliance is designed for free standing installation or can be recessed into cabinetry.
  • The wine cellar should be placed in a location where the ambient temperature is between 60-85°F. If the ambient temperature is outside this range, the performance of the unit may be affected.
  • Place your wine cellar on a flat, solid floor that is strong enough to support it when it is fully loaded. To level your wine cellar, adjust the front leveling leg at the bottom of the wine cellar.
  • When moving your wine cellar, please do not incline it more than 45 degrees.
  • Locate the wine cellar away from direct sunlight and sources of heat (stove, heater, radiator, etc.). Direct sunlight may affect the acrylic coating and heat sources may increase electrical consumption.
  • Avoid locating the unit in damp areas.
  • Plug the wine cellar into a dedicated (for this appliance only), properly installed and grounded wall outlet. Do not under any circumstances cut or remove the third (grounding) prong from the power cord. Any questions concerning power and/or electrical grounding should be directed to a certified electrician or authorized product service center.

Bottle Capacity

Our new rolling plate shelves with 80% extension are designed to accommodate Bordeaux and Burgundy*-size bottles in every slot, as follows:

    • 1 rolling plate shelf with stacked capacity for 22 bottles
    • 6 rolling plate shelves with capacity for up to 11 Bordeaux bottles per shelf
    • Optional presentation shelf (sold separately) with capacity for 20 bottles; can be used to replace 2 rolling shelves (bottle capacity will decline by 13 bottles)
  • 78 bottles can be stored in the lower (warmer) zone
    • 1 half-depth shelf at the bottom with stacked capacity for 12 bottles
    • 6 rolling plate shelves with capacity for up to 11 Bordeaux bottles per shelf
*Please note: Burgundy, Champagne and other larger bottles will reduce capacity.

FAQs

Can the Loft 1200 be installed flush with cabinetry, or does it have to stand free?

A: It works either way. The unit is front-vented, which means all intake and exhaust happen through the front grille — there is no clearance required on the sides or rear. You can recess it into a cabinet run or a built-in niche and get a flush result, or simply roll it into position as a freestanding unit. The door also has reversible hinges, so swing direction can be matched to the installation.

What are the actual temperature ranges for each zone, and can I run both zones at the same temperature?

A: The upper zone is designed for whites and sparkling wines and can be set anywhere from 41°F to 54°F. The lower zone is designed for reds and runs from 54°F to 66°F. The system requires the upper zone to be set at least 4°F colder than the lower zone at all times — so you cannot equalize the two zones. Temperatures are visible on the blue LED display panel mounted inside the cooler, and the unit supports both Fahrenheit and Celsius readouts.

Does the 166-bottle capacity hold for Burgundy and Rhône bottles, or only Bordeaux-sized bottles?

A: The 166-bottle figure is rated for standard Bordeaux bottles. The shelves are designed to accommodate Burgundy-size bottles as well, but the wider shoulder on those bottles means fewer will fit per shelf, and overall capacity will be reduced. If your cellar runs heavy on Burgundy or oversized Rhône bottles, plan for a meaningfully lower working count than 166.

What electrical circuit does this unit require?

A: The Loft 1200 runs on 115V / 60Hz and requires a dedicated 15-amp circuit. It should not share a circuit with other appliances. The unit also has an ambient temperature requirement — the room where it is installed should stay between 60°F and 85°F; performance will be affected outside that range, which is worth factoring into basement or garage placements.

What does the warranty actually cover, and for how long?

A: The Loft 1200 carries a 1-year warranty on parts and labor, plus a 5-year warranty on the compressor. The compressor used is the energy-efficient R600a system. The unit is UL / ETL compliant.

What shelving is included, and what is the optional presentation shelf?

A: The unit ships with 14 pull-out shelves (13 rolling metal plate shelves plus 1 fixed). The rolling plate shelves are low-profile and designed to slide out fully for easy access. An optional rolling presentation shelf is available separately — it holds bottles label-up and face-forward for display rather than horizontal storage. That shelf is shown in some product images but is not included with the standard unit.

Beautiful and quiet dual zone wine fridge

Bev J| 1/9/2018 3:40 pm

We purchased this wine fridge a few months ago and love it, not only does it hold a ton of bottles, the dual zones work great and it is beautiful, we receive so many compliments. I'm not sure if it can hold 166 bottles, but we have had way more than 100 in there. My only negative was the sales experience, the person I dealt with was hard core sales, and once he made the sale he wasn't helpful at all, I would buy from the website as I didn't receive any discount dealing with him and when I had questions he would refer me to the website. That being said, the customer service is awesome and everyone I have spoken with has been super helpful. Also, it is super quiet, I am about 6 feet away, no TV going and I can't hear it. I would add a photo, but there isn't a place to do that.

Pleased with refrigerator, shipping not so much.

We ordered this refrigerator and had it shipped to address that was not our own. There was a delay in shipping that IWA blamed on the shipper. There catalog should not give a time line for shipping if they cannot guarantee it. It took much longer than anticipated but arrived in good shape and is very nice. I was able to get 12 cases in it and some dessert wine bottles. The people that delivered it were pretty good but did not check to see all shelves were installed correctly. Overall impressed with refrigerator and IWA was helpful about shipping delay.

Excellent Product - Terrible Ordering/Delivery Experience

Great Product! Terrible ordering process and delivery experience ! Additional charges made for delivery after order was complete. Mistakes by delivery company. Cannot recommend IWA to my wine club friends. Not a good experience! Should receive some compensation for these mistakes.
