Details

When your collection has grown past a single-zone cooler and you want reds and whites at proper serving temperatures simultaneously, the Loft 400 is built for exactly that moment. It holds up to 46 Bordeaux bottles across two independently controlled zones — whites and sparkling wines in the upper zone (41–54°F) and reds in the lower (54–66°F) — and its front-vented design means it installs cleanly into cabinetry or stands free without modification. The frameless infinity glass door lies flush with the cabinet face, which matters in a dining room or finished basement where you want the unit to disappear into the millwork rather than announce itself.

The rolling metal plate shelves pull out fully and accommodate Burgundy-sized bottles, so a shelf loaded with wider-shouldered Burgundies or Rhône bottles is handled without rearranging your layout. Temperature readings appear on an interior blue LED display panel, hinges are reversible for left or right door swing and the R600a compressor meets CEC and DOE energy standards. A charcoal air filter, security lock with key and double-pane tinted tempered glass round out the spec without unnecessary complication.

Best For

  • A dining room or bar remodel where a flush built-in installation and a frameless door are non-negotiable
  • Running reds and whites at separate serving temperatures for a dinner party without pulling bottles from a deeper cellar at the last minute
  • Pairing alongside a larger primary storage unit, using this as a dedicated service cooler for 40–46 bottles in rotation
  • Collectors whose bottle mix includes Burgundy or other large-format bottles that standard round-rack shelving cannot accommodate

Configuration

Placement requirements: 60-85F ambient temperature. If the ambient temperature is outside this range, the performance of the unit will be affected.

Size: 23 3/4w x 22 1/2d x 34 1/4h (in)

Shelving: 6 pull-out shelves (5 rolling)

Quiet Mode The wine cooler can be put into "quiet mode", which reduces the fan speed by 20-25% and reduces the amount of noise produced by the fans, by pressing and holding the light button (while the display panel is locked from not being touched for 15 seconds) for about 3-5 seconds. The C/F indicator will flash when the unit is in "quiet mode."

Features

  • Zone temperature ranges and differential rule: Upper zone adjusts from 41–54°F (whites and sparkling); lower zone from 54–66°F (reds). The upper zone must be set at least 4°F colder than the lower at all times — a real constraint when both zones are running near their shared boundary.
  • Bottle capacity is format-dependent: The 46-bottle rating is based on standard Bordeaux bottles. The rolling metal plate shelves accommodate wider Burgundy-format bottles, but capacity drops below the stated maximum when those are stored.
  • Front-vented for true built-in use: Air exhausts from the front grille, so the unit can be recessed flush into cabinetry without rear or side clearance. Works equally as a freestanding unit.
  • R600a compressor: Isobutane refrigerant with a lower global warming potential than older refrigerants; meets CEC and DOE energy efficiency standards.
  • Dedicated 15-amp circuit required: 115V / 60Hz. This is a hard electrical requirement — factor it into any remodel or installation plan before the unit arrives.
  • Warranty structure: 1 year covering parts and labor; compressor warranty extends separately to 5 years.
  • Reversible door hinges for left- or right-hand swing; security lock with keys included
  • Interior blue LED display panel; temperature readout switchable between Fahrenheit and Celsius

Pairs Well With

  • A replacement charcoal air filter — the unit ships with one installed, and periodic replacement maintains proper air quality inside the cabinet.

FAQs

Can the Loft 400 be installed built-in under a counter or does it have to be freestanding?

A: The Loft 400 is front-vented, which means it works in both configurations without modification. You can recess it into cabinetry for a flush built-in look or place it freestanding — the venting does not require side or rear clearance. The dimensions are 23¾" W x 22½" D x 34¼" H, so verify your cutout before ordering. Reversible hinges give you flexibility on door swing direction for either install.

What are the temperature ranges for each zone, and can I set them independently?

A: Yes, the two zones are fully independent. The upper zone runs from 41–54°F, designed for white and sparkling wines. The lower zone runs from 54–66°F, designed for reds. One constraint worth knowing: the upper zone must be set at least 4°F colder than the lower zone at all times. Both zones display on a blue LED panel inside the cabinet, with a choice of Fahrenheit or Celsius readout.

The spec says 46 bottles — does that hold if I’m storing Burgundy or Pinot Noir bottles?

A: The 46-bottle rating is based on standard Bordeaux-sized bottles. The rolling metal plate shelves are designed to accommodate larger Burgundy-format bottles, but doing so reduces total capacity. If your cellar skews toward Burgundy, Pinot or other wide-shouldered bottles, plan for a meaningfully lower count than 46. The plate shelf design does give you the flexibility to mix formats across shelves.

What electrical circuit does the Loft 400 require?

A: The unit runs on 115V / 60Hz and requires a dedicated 15-amp circuit. It cannot share a circuit with other appliances. If you’re planning a built-in installation in a dining room or finished basement, confirm the dedicated circuit is in place before the unit arrives. The R600a compressor is energy-efficient and CEC and DOE compliant.

What does the warranty actually cover and for how long?

A: The Loft 400 carries a 1-year warranty on parts and labor and a 5-year warranty on the compressor. The compressor is the most expensive component to replace, so the extended coverage there is the more meaningful term. Parts and labor coverage handles defects in the first year of ownership.

What ambient temperature range does the room need to be in for the unit to perform correctly?

A: The Loft 400 is rated to operate correctly when the surrounding room temperature stays between 60–85°F. Installations in spaces that regularly drop below 60°F (an unheated garage in winter, for example) or exceed 85°F can degrade cooling performance. For a dining room, finished basement or climate-controlled second home, this range is easily met under normal conditions.

Wine Cooler Review

This is my second purchase from IWA. Went to the actually store in Petaluma. The fellow who helped me was exceedingly helpful and informative. He took the time to review my needs and the loft 400 capacity and reliability. He answered all the various and many questions I had regrading the loft vs other similar refrigerators from other makers.

The loft itself is performing as advertised. It actually does fit the max capacity even with Burgundian style bottles. Only problem is with champagne bottles(does require removal of one rack if you want a rack of the bubbly). Does a great dual zone chill and the temp is accurate. The fridge itself is beautiful (pleasant blue/purple back lighting) and in particularly runs quiet(for reference I have it set at 52 and 58 degrees), has great cycling/insulation so doesn't turn on often and is much more quiet then the standard kitchen refrigerator in the other side of my kitchen. Would buy again.

I purchased the Loft 400 Frameless model to replace a 19 yr old unit.
This is my second Wine storage unit from IWA and the process went silky smooth. From discussing my needs to delivery all of the people I dealt with were great!
The unit was easy to place, level, start and set the temps I wanted.
Good installation instructions. Good Service. Good price.
I will buy again from IWA.
