Le Cache Contemp 2400 Driftwood #36426
Details
When a serious collection outgrows a kitchen cooler or closet conversion, the Le Cache 2400 in Driftwood is the kind of cabinet that solves the problem without compromising a room. At 82 inches tall and 39 inches wide, it holds 286 bottles — 256 in racked slots sized for oversized bottles, another 30 in bulk — and the Driftwood finish on cherry veneer gives it a calm, gray-washed presence that reads as furniture rather than appliance. The CellarPro cooling unit manages both temperature and humidity digitally, which is the actual difference between a wine cabinet and a refrigerator: corks stay hydrated, conditions stay stable and bottles laid down today are protected for years.
The construction is built around that long-term commitment. Foil-backed polyisocyanurate insulation and sealed seams keep thermal conditions consistent. Double-pane tinted glass blocks UV while letting the Venetian arch windows show the collection inside. The SB/0™ top-vent exhaust design means it can sit flush against a wall without clearance gaps, which matters in a dining room or finished basement where space is measured carefully. Audible and visual alarms, a security lock and an optional bottle probe round out the monitoring side — this is a cabinet that watches over your wine so you don't have to.
Best For
- Aging Bordeaux, Burgundy or Napa reds that need genuine humidity management alongside temperature control over multi-year horizons
- Placing a high-capacity freestanding cabinet flush to a dining room or den wall where depth and exhaust clearance are constraints
- Transitioning a 200–300 bottle collection from improvised storage into cellar-condition conditions without a full build-out
- A remodeled basement or second home where a furniture-grade cabinet needs to hold its own visually and perform reliably without daily attention
Features
- SB/0™ Technology: The top-vent exhaust design means the cabinet can sit flush against a wall with zero rear clearance required — a practical advantage in dining rooms, hallways or finished basements where space is measured carefully.
- Foil-backed polyisocyanurate insulation: Higher R-value per inch than standard foam, which reduces the thermal load on the cooling unit and helps maintain stable internal temperatures even in warmer ambient rooms.
- CellarPro cooling unit with adjustable humidity control: Unlike wine coolers or refrigerators that only manage temperature, this unit actively controls humidity — critical for long-term aging where cork integrity matters. Three cooling unit variants (1800QTL-ECX, 1800QT-ECX, 1800XT-ECX) are available depending on ambient conditions; see the Thermal Load Calculations guide to select the right one.
- Energy-Saver and Quick-Chill modes: Energy-Saver reduces compressor cycling during stable conditions; Quick-Chill accelerates temperature recovery after extended door access or initial setup.
- Audible and visual alarms alert to temperature excursions or door-ajar conditions. An optional bottle probe adds a second temperature reference point inside the cabinet.
- Universal all-wood interlock racks with 3.8-inch slots: Accommodates standard Bordeaux and Burgundy bottles as well as larger-format and oversized bottles without requiring separate rack inserts. Double-deep configuration maximizes capacity within the 39" footprint.
- Stainless bar pulls with keyed security lock on both doors
- 5-year warranty on the CellarPro cooling unit; 2-year warranty covering the full cabinet. Optional extended warranty available.
Pairs Well With
- The optional CellarPro bottle probe — recommended if the cabinet is placed in a room with significant temperature swings, as it gives you an internal wine-temperature reading independent of the thermostat sensor.

Warranty:
2 Years (Cabinet) / 5 Years (Cooling Unit)
Optional Extended Warranty
What These Specs Mean
- Startup Amps vs. Running Amps: The startup (inrush) amperage is significantly higher than the steady-state running draw; a dedicated 15- or 20-amp circuit is required to handle the compressor's inrush load without tripping a breaker.
- CellarPro ECX Model Options (QTL / QT / XT): The three cooling unit variants differ in capacity and noise output; the QTL draws the least power and runs quietest, while the XT provides the highest cooling capacity for warmer or less-insulated ambient environments.

Please note:
(1) We count the top of the racks as 1 row when counting rows in our racks.
(2) Every slot in the racks is 3 3/4" and sized to fit oversized Burgundy and most Champagne-size bottles.
(3) Bulk storage is located atop the racks (except for the first row atop the racks). Bulk storage capacity is based on Bordeaux-size bottles.
(4) Total capacity is the sum of racked plus bulk capacity, with double-deep storage in all cases except the Contemporary Credenza (which is single-deep). Usable capacity may be lower by 2-3 bottles when the first few cells under the cooling unit are left empty for proper air circulation.
FAQs
Is the Le Cache Model 2400 freestanding or can it be recessed into a wall?
A: The Model 2400 is a freestanding cabinet designed to sit flush against a wall thanks to Le Cache's SB/0™ Technology, which routes all exhaust through a top-vent rather than out the rear. This means zero rear clearance is required — it can be pushed directly against a wall or placed between built-ins — but it is not a true built-in unit and does not require a cabinet cutout or ventilation chase.
What is the real-world bottle capacity, and does it handle larger-format or wide-shoulder bottles like Burgundy or Champagne?
A: Total capacity is 286 bottles: 256 racked slots at 3.8-inch spacing (double-deep) plus approximately 30 bottles in bulk stacking space. The universal all-wood interlock racks are designed to accommodate oversized bottles, including wide-shoulder Burgundy and Champagne formats, without requiring a rack reconfiguration.
Does this cabinet actively manage humidity, or does it only control temperature?
A: Unlike standard wine coolers or refrigerators, the Model 2400 includes Adjustable Humidity Control through the CellarPro cooling unit — actively maintaining the moisture levels needed for long-term aging and cork integrity. This is one of the core distinctions between a purpose-built wine cabinet and a repurposed beverage refrigerator, which typically over-dries the interior.
What are the electrical requirements and which CellarPro cooling unit should I select?
A: The cabinet runs on standard 115V AC / 60 Hz power. Three CellarPro 1800-series units are available: the 1800QTL-ECX draws 2.4 running amps (14.2 startup), the 1800QT-ECX draws 2.9 running amps (20.1 startup) and the 1800XT-ECX draws 3.0 running amps (20.1 startup). The right unit depends on the thermal load of your room — ambient temperature, insulation and sun exposure all factor in. Le Cache provides a Thermal Load Calculations guide to help match the unit to your specific environment.
What does the warranty actually cover and for how long?
A: The cabinet carries a 2-year full warranty and the CellarPro cooling unit is covered separately for 5 years. An optional extended warranty is also available for buyers who want longer coverage on the cooling system. The cooling unit warranty being the longer of the two reflects that the compressor is the highest-wear component in any active-cooling wine cabinet.
How loud is the Model 2400 in a living space like a dining room or open-plan area?
A: Le Cache specifies that the current generation uses the most advanced and quietest CellarPro cooling units available, and the 1800QTL-ECX variant in particular draws the lowest running amperage (2.4A) of the three options, which correlates with lower operational noise. The cabinet also features an Energy-Saver mode that reduces compressor cycling during stable ambient conditions. Le Cache publishes a detailed Cooling Unit Sound Performance chart for buyers who want decibel-level comparisons across the three unit options.

Don’t go cheap pal

This is the second LaCache we have owned. The first we had for about 9 years and left with the house when we sold it. 170 bottle unit. This purchase is for the new home, and we needed more storage. The color looks awesome in a beach environment, and it is built so solid. It is more than some of the others you see out there, but my guess is you get what you pay for. When you have tens of thousands of dollars in wine why would you cheap out over a couple of grand. Do yourself a favor and just buy this brand. Period.
