Laguiole Flatware Stainless Jean Dubost #17314
Authentic Laguiole flatware has a particular presence on a table, and this 24-piece set by Jean Dubost delivers it without compromise. Hand-made in France from polished stainless steel throughout, the handles carry the classic Laguiole silhouette with its distinctive bee emblem and hold up to regular use and the dishwasher. It arrives in a wood storage tray with a certificate of authenticity and a gift box, so it needs no additional dressing to give.
Best For
- Setting a dinner table for six where the flatware should feel considered without being fragile or precious
- Giving as a wedding or housewarming gift that arrives presentation-ready, box and all
- Hosting a dinner where the knives need to cut cleanly through steak without dulling after a season of use
- Building a complete entertaining set that looks too deliberate to be drawer filler
- Two distinct steel alloys matched to function: Knife blades use AISI 420 stainless steel for better edge retention, while forks, spoons and teaspoons use AISI 430 stainless steel for corrosion resistance and a consistently bright mirror finish across the set.
- Authentic Laguiole handle design: Each piece carries the classic Laguiole bolster detailing and signature bee emblem — the visual markers of genuine Laguiole cutlery that set it apart from generic flatware at the table.
- Certificate of authenticity included: A printed Certificat d'Authenticité from Jean Dubost is packaged with the set, confirming French origin — a meaningful detail for gifting.
- Complete place settings for six — no mix-and-match pieces needed. The 24-piece breakdown covers every course with knives (9"), dinner forks and spoons (8¼") and teaspoons (5 9/10").
- Includes a divided wood storage tray that keeps the set organized between uses — functional enough for a drawer, presentable enough for a countertop or sideboard.
- Arrives in a gift box, ready to give without additional wrapping.
- Dishwasher safe.

What These Specs Mean
- AISI 430 Stainless-Steel: A corrosion-resistant steel grade used for the forks, spoons and teaspoons, meaning everyday use and dishwasher cycles won't dull or pit the finish over time.
- AISI 420 Stainless-Steel: A harder steel grade reserved for the knife blades, allowing them to hold a sharper cutting edge than standard flatware-grade steel.
What exactly comes in this 24-piece set?
A: The set includes 6 knives, 6 dinner forks, 6 dinner spoons and 6 teaspoons — enough to seat six for a full table setting. Everything arrives organized in a divided wood storage tray, which doubles as a display box and makes the set genuinely gift-ready straight out of the box.
Is this flatware dishwasher safe?
A: Yes, the entire set is dishwasher safe. The handles are solid polished stainless steel with no wood, resin or composite components that could warp or crack — so you get the look of a considered table without the hand-wash-only maintenance of more delicate Laguiole handle styles.
What steel is used, and does it actually hold a sharp edge on the knives?
A: The knives are made from AISI 420 stainless steel, a higher-carbon grade specifically chosen for blades because it takes and holds a sharper edge. The forks, spoons and teaspoons use AISI 430 stainless steel, which prioritizes corrosion resistance and polish retention. The 1.5 mm blade thickness gives the knives a substantial, precise feel without being bulky.
Where is this flatware made, and is it authentic Laguiole?
A: Every piece is hand-made in Thiers, France by Jean Dubost, whose family has been producing Laguiole cutlery since 1920. The wood tray includes a printed Certificate of Authenticity confirming the French origin — relevant because the Laguiole name is not protected, and many sets sold online are manufactured outside France.
How does the stainless handle version compare to Laguiole sets with wood or horn handles?
A: The all-stainless version is the most practical choice for regular use and entertaining. Unlike olivewood or horn handles, the polished stainless handles are dishwasher safe, will not stain, and look consistent piece to piece — a detail that matters when you’re laying a full table of six. The tradeoff is a cooler, more industrial look versus the warmth of natural materials.
Is this set a good gift, and does it come packaged for giving?
A: It ships in an attractive gift box with the wood storage tray inside, so no additional wrapping or presentation effort is needed. The set works well as a wedding gift — it seats six with a complete place setting including teaspoons — and the French provenance and Certificate of Authenticity add genuine substance behind the presentation.

Beautiful Unique Flatware
I purchased the Laguiole steak knives years ago and they are still the best, stylish and still sharp. When I got the catalog and found matching flatware, I had to order. The set is lovely and matches my knives.

Stainless Flatware
I recently purchased this set to replace a similar set with wood handles by a different maker (from China). The other brand was not dishwasher safe and although I never used them in the dishwasher the metal riveted ends started to separate. This set is made of entirely metal and the handles are one piece per side, so hope fully they will last longer. The only faults I have with this set are that there are no salad forks, the teaspoons are very small, the knives are flexible and more like a steak knife than a dinner knife.
