Details

For a collection that has outgrown a cooler or a closet conversion, the 3800 Provincial gives serious collectors a dedicated, climate-controlled home for up to 458 bottles. The Provincial Cherry finish and gently arched double-glass doors integrate naturally into a dining room, finished basement or second home — contemporary enough for modern interiors, warm enough for more traditional ones. Behind the doors, a CellarPro cooling unit manages both temperature and humidity with digital precision, which is what separates a true wine cabinet from a refrigerator and makes it a viable option for long-term aging.

Best For

  • Moving a 300–450 bottle collection out of a closet conversion and into a unit engineered for long-term storage
  • Fitting a large-format cabinet into a dining room remodel where quiet operation and appearance both matter
  • Aging Bordeaux or Napa Cabernets over 5–10 years in an environment that controls humidity alongside temperature
  • Accommodating magnums and oversized formats alongside standard 750ml bottles in the same all-wood racking system

Features

  • CellarPro cooling system: Made in the USA, this unit provides precise digital temperature and humidity management for long-term aging.
  • Universal racking: The 3.8-inch slots accommodate oversized bottles including Pinot Noir and Champagne without label damage.
  • SB/0™ technology: A top-vent exhaust design allows the unit to be placed flush against a wall without compromising airflow.
  • Double-pane tinted glass: Provides thermal insulation and UV protection to prevent light-induced spoilage.
  • Security lock included: Integrated locks on the hardwood doors provide physical protection for the collection.
  • Foil-backed polyisocyanurate insulation: High-density material maintains stable internal temperatures and improves energy efficiency.
  • High performance air filtration system included.
  • Low-heat interior LED lighting.

Pairs Well With

  • A bottle probe - connects to the cooling unit to manage temperatures based on liquid rather than air.

Please note:
(1) We count the top of the racks as 1 row when counting rows in our racks.
(2) Every slot in the racks is 3 3/4" and sized to fit oversized Burgundy and most Champagne-size bottles.
(3) Bulk storage is located atop the racks (except for the first row atop the racks). Bulk storage capacity is based on Bordeaux-size bottles.
(4) Total capacity is the sum of racked plus bulk capacity, with double-deep storage in all cases except the Contemporary Credenza (which is single-deep). Usable capacity may be lower by 2-3 bottles when the first few cells under the cooling unit are left empty for proper air circulation.

FAQs

Can the Le Cache 3800 Provincial be placed flush against a wall, or does it need clearance around it?

A: Yes. The 3800 uses Le Cache’s SB/0™ Technology, which routes exhaust through a top-vent rather than through the rear or sides. This means the cabinet can sit completely flush against a wall with no side or rear clearance required. It is a freestanding unit, not a built-in, but the top-vent design makes it practical in tight spaces like a dining room alcove, basement finishing or a dedicated storage wall.

What is the real-world bottle capacity, and will it fit larger-format bottles like Burgundy or Champagne?

A: The 3800 holds 458 bottles total408 in racked slots (3.8-inch slots) and approximately 50 in bulk stacked storage. The all-wood interlock racks use a universal design specifically sized to accommodate oversized bottles, so Burgundy pinots, Champagne and similarly wide-shouldered bottles fit without modification. The double-deep racking configuration allows you to store two rows per slot, which is how the cabinet reaches that capacity within its 58” x 29” footprint.

What are the electrical requirements, and can it run on a standard household circuit?

A: The 3800 runs on 115V AC / 60 Hz, which is a standard US household current. The CellarPro cooling unit comes in three configurations: the 1800QTL-ECX draws 2.4 running amps (14.2 startup amps), the 1800QT-ECX draws 2.9 running amps (20.1 startup amps) and the 1800XT-ECX draws 3.0 running amps (20.1 startup amps). A dedicated 20-amp circuit is recommended given the startup amp draw, particularly for the QT and XT variants.

How does this cabinet manage humidity, and why does that matter for long-term aging?

A: The 3800 includes active adjustable humidity control through the CellarPro cooling unit, not passive humidification. Standard wine coolers and refrigerators cycle humidity out of the air as a byproduct of cooling, which dries corks over time and allows oxidation. This cabinet maintains the humidity conditions necessary for long-term aging and cork integrity, making it suitable for holding Bordeaux, Burgundy and Rhône vintages over multi-year timelines rather than just short-term storage.

What does the warranty cover, and is extended coverage available?

A: Le Cache provides a 2-year warranty on the entire cabinet and a separate 5-year warranty on the CellarPro cooling unit. The cooling unit warranty reflects the fact that the CellarPro system is the most mechanically complex component and the one most likely to need service over time. An optional extended warranty is also available if you want coverage beyond those terms.

What insulation does the 3800 use, and how does it protect wine from temperature fluctuation and UV damage?

A: The cabinet is built with foil-backed polyisocyanurate insulation, one of the highest R-value rigid foam insulations available, combined with sealed seams to prevent thermal bridging. The doors use double-pane tinted glass, which blocks UV light that degrades wine compounds while still allowing you to view the collection. Together, these materials maintain stable internal conditions even in rooms with ambient temperature swings.

So far very good. Looks great and so far, keeping all wines at ideal temperature even when we have had 8 days of 3-digit temperatures! Delivery was also excellent!
