Loft 400 Double Cooler 92 Bottle Frameless #34228
When a collection crosses the threshold where one temperature no longer serves both the Burgundy aging in the lower racks and the Chablis waiting to be poured, this unit resolves that tension directly. The Loft 400 Double pairs two matching coolers side by side with four independently controlled zones: whites and sparkling held anywhere from 41–54°F in the upper sections, reds from 54–66°F below. Frameless double-pane glass doors sit flush against a wall or recess into cabinetry, and front-ducting means the decision between built-in and freestanding stays open until installation day.
Best For
- Maintaining separate storage temperatures for a mixed cellar of reds and whites without running two separate appliances
- A dining room or kitchen remodel where built-in flush-mount wine storage is part of the design plan
- Keeping a rotating stock of Champagne or white Burgundy chilled and service-ready while aging Napa Cabernet in the lower zone at cellar temperature
- Consolidating two units’ worth of 92-bottle capacity into a single purchase at a lower cost than buying them separately
Placement requirements: 60-85F ambient temperature. If the ambient temperature is outside this range, the performance of the unit will be affected.
Size: 47 1/2w x 22 1/2d x 34 1/4h (in)
Shelving: 12 pull-out shelves (10 rolling)
Quiet Mode The wine cooler can be put into "quiet mode", which reduces the fan speed by 20-25% and reduces the amount of noise produced by the fans, by pressing and holding the light button (while the display panel is locked from not being touched for 15 seconds) for about 3-5 seconds. The C/F indicator will flash when the unit is in "quiet mode."

- 4 independent temperature zones, not 2: Each of the two side-by-side cabinets has its own upper and lower zone, giving you four separately controlled compartments. You can run aging reds in both lower zones while holding service-ready whites and sparkling in the upper zones simultaneously — all within a single footprint.
- Per-zone temperature constraint to plan around: The upper zone in each cabinet must be set at least 4°F colder than the lower zone. Upper zones range 41–54°F; lower zones range 54–66°F. If your red storage target is 60°F, the corresponding white zone cannot be set above 56°F.
- Rolling full-extension shelves (not sliding): The rolling mechanism lets each shelf pull out fully, so you can reach bottles at the back without displacing anything in front. The plate design handles wider-shouldered Burgundy and Pinot Noir bottles alongside standard Bordeaux — 12 shelves total across both cabinets, 10 of them rolling.
- Requires a 15-amp dedicated circuit: At 115V/60Hz, this unit needs its own breaker. If you’re roughing in a remodel, plan the electrical before the cabinet surround is finished.
- Doors are center-hinged, opening outward from the middle: Each door swings away from the center seam. Measure swing clearance on both sides before finalizing placement, particularly in tighter dining room or built-in configurations.
- Front-ducted compressor: No rear or side clearance required for ventilation. Installs flush in cabinetry or stands alone without modification — a meaningful distinction from rear-vented units that can’t be fully recessed.
- Double-pane tinted tempered glass: The tint blocks UV exposure; the double-pane construction reduces thermal transfer at the door face, both of which matter for long-term aging rather than short-term service.
- Ambient temperature range 60–85°F required for rated performance: An unconditioned garage or basement that drops below 60°F in winter will affect compressor operation. A climate-controlled room or finished basement is the appropriate environment.

PLACEMENT REQUIREMENTS
- This appliance is designed for free standing installation or can be recessed into cabinetry.
- The wine cellar should be placed in a location where the ambient temperature is between 60-85°F. If the ambient temperature is outside this range, the performance of the unit may be affected.
- Place your wine cellar on a flat, solid floor that is strong enough to support it when it is fully loaded. To level your wine cellar, adjust the front leveling leg at the bottom of the wine cellar.
- When moving your wine cellar, please do not incline it more than 45 degrees.
- Locate the wine cellar away from direct sunlight and sources of heat (stove, heater, radiator, etc.). Direct sunlight may affect the acrylic coating and heat sources may increase electrical consumption.
- Avoid locating the unit in damp areas.
- Plug the wine cellar into a dedicated (for this appliance only), properly installed and grounded wall outlet. Do not under any circumstances cut or remove the third (grounding) prong from the power cord. Any questions concerning power and/or electrical grounding should be directed to a certified electrician or authorized product service center.
- Double units can share the same circuit.
- Total capacity of 92 Bordeaux-size bottles (46 per side)
- On each side,
- 5 rolling plate shelves with capacity for up to 8 Bordeaux bottles per shelf
- 1 wire shelf at the bottom with capacity for 6 bottles
- 16 bottles can be stored in the upper zone, and 30 bottles can be stored in the lower zone
Can the Loft 400 Double be installed as a built-in under a counter, or is it freestanding only?
A: Either. The unit is front-ducted, so it requires no rear or side ventilation clearance and can be recessed flush into cabinetry for a true built-in installation or used as a freestanding piece. Dimensions are 47½" wide x 22½" deep x 34¼" tall and the unit weighs 360 lbs, so verify your cabinet opening and floor load capacity before installation. The ambient temperature where it is placed should stay between 60 and 85°F for the unit to perform correctly.
How do the temperature zones actually work, and how independent are they?
A: The Double contains 4 temperature zones total — two upper and two lower, one pair per cabinet. The upper zones are calibrated for whites and sparkling wines and are adjustable from 41–54°F; the lower zones are set for reds and range from 54–66°F. One important constraint: the upper zone in each cabinet must be set at least 4°F colder than its corresponding lower zone. Temperatures are read off the blue LED display panel mounted inside each cabinet, and you can toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius.
The 92-bottle rating is based on Bordeaux — what actually happens when you mix in Burgundy or larger bottles?
A: The 92-bottle figure assumes standard Bordeaux-shaped bottles. The rolling metal plate shelves with full extension are designed to accommodate both Bordeaux and Burgundy shapes, but wider bottles will reduce the total count below 92. Each cabinet holds up to 46 bottles, and the plate shelf design gives you the flexibility to rearrange as your collection mix changes — which is the practical advantage over fixed-rack systems that lock you into one bottle profile.
What are the electrical requirements, and does this need a dedicated circuit?
A: Yes — a dedicated 15-amp circuit is required. The unit runs on 115V / 60Hz standard household current, but it must not share a circuit with other appliances. Plan for this during any remodel or installation rough-in. The unit uses R600a refrigerant, which is among the more energy-efficient options available and is CEC and DOE compliant.
What does the warranty cover and for how long?
A: The Loft 400 Double carries a 1-year warranty on parts and labor and a separate 5-year warranty on the compressor. The extended compressor coverage is the more meaningful figure for long-term reliability — compressor replacement is the highest-cost repair on any wine refrigerator, and five years of protection on that component is a meaningful distinction at this price point.
What is the difference between the Loft 400 Double and buying two individual Loft 400 units?
A: The Double combines two matching Loft 400 coolers side-by-side in a single integrated cabinet, with doors hinged to open from the center. Functionally the storage and zone configuration are the same. The practical differences are a cleaner, more cohesive footprint for built-in installations and a $100 savings compared to purchasing two separate units. If you are planning a dedicated wine wall or recessed cabinetry run, the Double integrates more cleanly than two independent units placed side-by-side.
