Details

When you’re putting out a board with five different cheeses, your guests shouldn’t have to guess which one is the blue. This set of five stainless steel markers takes care of the introduction, each one etched with a descriptor — “sharp,” “hard,” “creamy,” “mild” and “stinky” — and cut into its own distinct shape so they read as a collection, not a set of identical tags. The brushed stainless finish is clean and polished without being fussy, and the different silhouettes (a banner, a pennant, an oval, a speech bubble and a scroll) give the board a visual rhythm that looks intentional.

They also make a genuinely useful gift. Wrapped with a cheese board or a set of knives, they round out something that already looks good into something that clearly had thought behind it.

Best For

  • Setting out a mixed cheese board for a dinner party and making it easy for guests to navigate without interrupting the host
  • Giving as a gift alongside a cheese board or knife set for a host who entertains often
  • Adding a finishing touch to a charcuterie spread that needs to look as considered as it tastes

Features

  • Etched labels, not printed: The descriptors are cut directly into the steel, so they won’t fade, peel or wash off over time.
  • Five distinct silhouettes: Each marker has a different shape — speech bubble, oval, pennant, rectangle and bow-tie — so guests can tell them apart at a glance without reading the label.
  • Stake-style base: The pointed stake pushes directly into a wedge of cheese or a soft board surface, no stand or clip required.
  • Brushed finish minimizes visible fingerprints and smudges during serving.
  • Each marker has a small hanging hole for easy storage on a hook between uses.
  • Descriptors cover the full range of a mixed board: “sharp,” “hard,” “creamy,” “mild” and “stinky.”
  • Approximate size per marker: 2 3/4” W × 1/4” D × 2 1/2” H

Pairs Well With

  • A stainless cheese knife set — the markers identify each variety while the knives handle the serving, keeping the board functional and cohesive.

FAQs

What descriptors are included in the set of 5 cheese markers?

A: The set includes five markers labeled "sharp," "hard," "creamy," "mild" and "stinky." Each one covers a distinct cheese personality, so you can label a cheddar, a parmesan, a brie, a gouda and a blue all at once — no guessing for guests.

Are all five markers the same shape, or does each one look different?

A: Every marker has a unique shape — the set includes a rectangular speech-bubble tag ("sharp"), an oval ("creamy"), a pennant flag ("stinky"), a square card on a V-pin ("hard") and a banner/bow-tie shape ("mild"). The variety of forms keeps the board visually interesting and makes it easy to tell the markers apart at a glance.

How do these markers stay in place — do they actually stick into the cheese?

A: Yes. Each marker has a metal stake or pin at the base that presses directly into the cheese, whether it's a firm wedge of aged cheddar or a soft round of brie. The pointed stakes are integrated into the stainless steel body, so there are no separate parts to lose.

How large are the markers, and will they be visible on a full cheese board?

A: Each marker measures approximately 2¾" wide x 2½" tall x ¼" deep. That size is proportional to a standard cheese wedge — tall enough to read easily across a crowded board without overpowering the presentation.

Is this set a practical gift for someone who entertains, or is it more of a novelty item?

A: It's genuinely functional. The brushed stainless steel finish and etched lettering hold up through repeated use, and the descriptors ("sharp," "creamy," etc.) are universally useful rather than tied to specific cheese names — meaning the set works for any board, any occasion. It's a considered, compact gift for anyone who builds cheese boards regularly.

Just starting out

Mike| 12/28/2022 6:19 am

This was given as a gift and she liked it very much. My wife is just starting out in the charcuterie board world and enjoys it a lot. We just starting to get her the basics. This was a good start.
